Framework Consultation open until Dec. 13th
The Board is launching a consultation process on its Elementary School Program Framework and is seeking parent feedback.
There may be potential implications for Elmdale in future area reviews in that it seeks to align elementary school configurations (ie. K-6 or K-8) with their secondary school configurations (i.e.; 7-12 or 9-12). Currently the Board is in the first year of this review process and while Elmdale will not be assessed until year 4 this is our opportunity to provide feedback into the framework that will guide the process.
Copy of the Framework: http://www.ocdsb.ca/calendar/AGENDA%20DOCS/2016%20DOCS/November%202016/PIC%2002%20November%202016/11%20Report16-119OCDSBElementarySchoolProgramFrameworkOct2016.pdf
Parents have until December 13th to provide feedback here: http://www.ocdsb.ca/sch/as/Elementary%20School%20Program%20Framework/Pages/default.aspx
A final decision will be made by Trustees on January 31st.

Contractors are renovating portable 2. Makeover includes a new roof, new walls, windows, floors, ceilings, new heating and AC, etc. There is a construction fence around it. Students are temporarily relocated to portable 3, which was not being used. If time allows, they will also renovate portable 4, which was not being used this year.
When Buses are cancelled - READ Please

Looking for a crossing guard
Posting for Ottawa Safety Council:
The OSC is currently looking to staff the crossing guard position at 417 East Bound ramp and Parkdale avenue that works to cross children safely for Connaught and Elmdale Public School.
We have been covering this with temporary staff for the last few weeks but are asking if the schools would be able to help in our search for a permanent crossing guard at that location. I’ve attached our recent job poster and have included a link to our Facebook Ad https://www.facebook.com/OttawaSafetyCouncil/crossingguard.
The Halloween Dance-a-Thon was a huge success this year. We are proud to say that families raised over $12,000!
As we had included on the pledge envelopes, the Halloween Dance-a-thon is intended to be a fundraising event for the school. Monies will be used to purchase supplementary learning tools, equipment and/or support extra-curricular activities designed to enhance our students experience.
Each year, a portion of Elmdale Council Funds is donated to community organizations through proposals created by the Elmdale Cares Committee, and discussed at School Council meetings.
Thank you to School Council for this initiative, and to Julie Taggart, Erin Hetherington and Traceylyn Watchorn for all their hard work in putting this event together.
Politicians and Guests at Elmdale PS Tuesday November 8th 2016
I take the opportunity to thank you for your responses connected to Tuesday's event at Elmdale. It was nice to see many of you on site, with such short notice.
We were so incredibly proud of our Grade 5 participants, they did a fabulous job! We just know that the Social Studies government unit later this year will have some personal connections for many of them!
Here is the link to the google folder with pictures received so far, most from Premier Wynne's staff, and some received from parents.
Click News title to see the pictures.
I have added to the picture page the actual news release announcement that Premier Wynne was making at Elmdale Tuesday.
Dress for the Weather
A friendly reminder that we go outside in ALL weather, including rain. We suggest: splash pants, rain boots, & a rain coat.
Students can bring an umbrella if they are careful and competent at opening and closing them.
Also pack an extra pair of socks and gloves... Label ALL ITEMS. Thanks!
