School Learning Program

The professional learning cycle framework for the School Learning Plan (SLP) builds upon the sound thinking, deep commitment and ongoing support provided to schools by the District and Ministry of Education.

There is an opportunity for parents and the school council to provide input on the School Learning Plan and on decisions that affect our students' learning experience.

The School Council is a place where families can get to know each other better with the goal of enhancing the school experience for all our students. We know that as parents you have valuable insights, ideas and knowledge to share.

All schools in the OCDSB develop School Learning Plans (SLP) that use this professional learning cycle to improve student achievement and well-being.

School Learning

At Elmdale, we collect data and evidence of our students’ work to identify gaps in our student learning needs (Plan). Collaboratively, we respond by learning about different instructional approaches best suited for our students, we identify strategies to test them (Act), we assess their impact (Observe) and revise them accordingly (Reflect). In this process, we co-create criteria and co-determine acceptable evidence.
